sweet summer

play my guitars

wake me with poetry

surprise me with coffee

text me on the bathroom mirror

leave a trail of sand when you leave

show me what you see

take pictures of what you hope will come find you

draw me treasure maps to fruit trees I’ve yet to cache

lay with me in the overgrown grass

pretend to love the birds also

admit you can’t see what I mean

look harder

tell me you see now

pet dogs twice for me

hide perishable objects for me to find

plant perennials in my name

listen to the seconds with me

paint over my sadness

linger adrift in our sea shanties

leave me alone to watch the sunrise.
